“If you shouted for help at Point Nemo, the closest people might actually be astronauts in space.”
George laughed.
“That’s ridiculous,” he said.
With that, he slipped on his diving mask and disappeared beneath the crystal-clear Pacific Ocean.
…
Ten minutes later…
He slowly surfaced.
But the first thing he saw wasn’t his boat.
It wasn’t a dolphin.
It wasn’t even a seagull.
Instead…
A large red buoy floated quietly nearby.
A sign attached to it read:
“Welcome to Point Nemo. Please do not feed the aliens.”
George blinked twice.
“I must have stayed underwater too long.”
Suddenly…
The sea began bubbling.
Moments later, a shiny silver flying saucer slowly emerged from beneath the waves.
Its hatch opened…
Out stepped a small green alien…
Holding a cup of tea.
“Good afternoon,” the alien said politely.
George stared in amazement.
“You… speak English?”
The alien smiled.
“Of course.”
“We watch the BBC every Wednesday.”
Within minutes, hundreds more aliens paddled towards him in inflatable boats.
One carried a fish.
Another held a basket of chips.
A third proudly carried a book titled:
“Understanding the British: An Impossible Guide.”
The aliens immediately began asking strange questions.
“Why do British people say it’s too hot when it’s only 30°C…”
“…but happily wear shorts when it’s 15°C?”
Another alien asked,
“And why, whenever it rains…”
“…do you always say, ‘Typical British weather,’”
“…even when you’re floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?”
George began sweating.
Just then, the Alien Commander approached carrying a thick clipboard.
“We’d like you to complete a survey.”
George frowned.
“About what?”
The commander replied,
“We’ve been studying Earth for over 5,000 years.”
“But there’s still one mystery we cannot solve…”
“Why do British people eat baked beans for breakfast?”
George stood silently for several seconds.
Then quietly admitted,
“To be honest…”
“…I have absolutely no idea.”
Suddenly…
Every alien stood up and burst into applause.
“We’ve finally done it!”
“For thousands of years we’ve searched for the answer.”
“And today we’ve discovered…”
“Even British people don’t know!”
The Alien Commander proudly presented George with a gold medal engraved with the words:
“The First Human Brave Enough to Admit He Doesn’t Know.”
Before sending him back to his boat, the aliens handed him a farewell gift bag.
Inside were:
A packet of Martian biscuits.
A zero-gravity tea-making kit.
And a survival guide titled:
“How to Cope When British People Complain About the Weather.”
Ever since that extraordinary day, whenever anyone asks George,
“Did you see anything unusual at Point Nemo?”
He simply smiles and replies:
“Oh yes… the aliens were perfectly normal. The strangest thing was that they couldn’t understand why we British eat baked beans for breakfast either!” 👽🌊😂
